The Track
Shake n Bake Speedway is the premier Kansas racing facility located just two miles south of beautiful Baldwin City, KS. Founded in the Spring of 2008 by the Dirty Kansas Boys, (DKSB) the original short track remains unchanged since its creation. A few months later, the drivers wanted a longer front and back stretch to allow for more top speed so long track turns one and two were created. Summer 2008 saw the addition of lights for the short track.
The short track is 312′ long. Entry into turn one is slightly downhill allowing you to carry good speed thru the apex of the corner. Turn two is flat at the exit and requires a near perfect line to get down the backstretch at full speed. Misss the exit line and you will have to lift off the throttle to gain your grip back to keep from going offtrack. Entry into turn 3 is flat and the exit to turn 4 is slightly uphill so you can carry alot of speed through that end of the track.
The long track is measured at 446′. Turn one is very challenging due to its offset that tightens late in the corner. Hit it wrong and it kills your speed, which is compounded by the first third of the backstretch being uphill. Hit is just right, and you will pull away from your competitors. Throw in the ever changing track surface as the races progress, and you have a technically challenging track at both ends whether you are racing the long track or short track. This is the best racing in Kansas.
